  1. Individualized Recommendations 
    The appointment includes a travel and health assessment that considers the traveler’s health history, mode and purpose of travel, and the health and safety issues of the destination. Individualized recommendations and prevention strategies are provided based on the assessment.
  2. Immunizations 
    We provide recommended and required immunizations, including Yellow Fever for the International Certificate of Vaccination. Immunizations are charged separately. Some immunizations are now covered under the Affordable Care Act.
  3. Counseling on Preventive Measures to Reduce illness and Injury 
    Vaccines, altitude illness, jet lag, travel health insurance, prevention and treatment of rabies, personal safety and crime prevention, specifics on when and how to get care abroad, as well as other topics, may be discussed.
  4. Prevention of Malaria and Other Insect-borne Diseases 
    Travelers are advised regarding the distribution of malaria, drug-resistant malaria, and the proper use of antimalarial drugs and measures to protect against mosquito bites.
  5. Prevention and Self-treatment of Traveler’s Diarrhea 
    Traveler’s diarrhea is the most frequent problem affecting travelers, particularly those traveling in the developing world. Prevention and self-treatment of traveler’s diarrhea is reviewed with the traveler during the consultation.
  6. Prescriptions 
    Prescriptions for antimalarial medication, antibiotics to treat traveler’s diarrhea, and medication to prevent altitude sickness may be recommended.
