Student and Dependent Health Insurance

Main content start

The information presented below will help you understand Cardinal Care, the university’s student health insurance program.  Please read all sections of this content carefully; both new and returning students need to take steps to meet the university’s health insurance requirement by the applicable deadline.

  • All students, in their first active quarter of each year, are auto-enrolled in Cardinal Care, the university-sponsored health insurance plan.  Adequate insurance coverage is mandatory for all students and every student must take action to acknowledge understanding of the Cardinal Care Enrollment Policy in Axess.  Once this step is complete, students who do not need Cardinal Care coverage can submit a request to waive the coverage by supplying information about alternative coverage.
  • Students who opt to remain enrolled in Cardinal Care have the option to enroll their dependents in the Dependent Care health insurance plan.
