Some services offered at Vaden are not covered by the Campus Health Service Fee. These include travel consultations, some immunizations, physical exams, CAPS long-term therapy, and CAPS medication management.

The following charts list charges that apply for services not covered by the Campus Health Service Fee.

* Office visit charges for students who have not beed assessed the Health Fee are based on complexity of visit.  Lab and professional radiology services are billed separately by the provider.

** Physical exam charges are based on complexity of exam. Laboratory services, if applicable, are not included in the cost, and are billed separately by the provider.  Immunizations and chest X-rays are also billed separately.

*** Students who are 17 or under and enrolled in Cardinal Care will not be charged for a PPD test (legislation under the Affordable Care Act)

Psychiatry Initial Consult $0 (A Referral Specialist is available to help identify psychiatric care in the community for students who have insurance  coverage other than Cardinal Care)
Psychiatry Follow Up Visit(s) Fees will apply. A $25 copay is charged for students enrolled in Cardinal Care. For students with other insurance coverage, the full cost of the visit is charged at the time of service (may be reimbursable by insurance).

Travel Clinic

Travel Clinic services are available to Stanford students, faculty, staff, spouses, partners, and alumni.

Immunizations for students with Cardinal Care

As a result of legislation under the Affordable Care Act, some routine, preventive immunizations are now covered by insurance plans at no cost share to members.  For students with Cardinal Care, the following immunizations are offered through Vaden Health Center at no charge to the student.

Immunizations for students with private insurance

Students without Cardinal Care will be charged by Vaden Health Center for all immunizations, other than seasonal influenza.  Students may seek reimbursement from their private insurance company, but there is no guarantee of payment.  Alternatively, students may go to a provider who is in the private insurance network for the maximum benefit level.  See applicable charges below.

These prices are applicable for students who do not have coverage through Cardinal Care and/or when the immunization is not considered preventive under the Affordable Care Act (such as when the immunization is given for travel):

Physical Therapy

Charges for physical therapy services are typically directed to third party payors (insurance).  For students who are covered by Cardinal Care and have a referral from a Vaden provider, a $25 to $35 copayment applies.

Medical Records

Active students may print personal immunization and some other records directly from the VadenPatient portal at no cost. For records that are not directly accessible, the following charges will apply:

  • Patient directed request for records                                        $6.50
  • Third party request for records                                                  $0.25 per page

Payments for request for records should be paid in the form of a check made payable to Stanford University.

Record release(s) made directly to another health care provider as part of treatment do not incur any fees.
