FAQs
While queer may mean many different things to different people, we use it as a universal term to describe people who don’t fit neatly into society’s definitions of gender, sex, and sexual identity.
No matter how you identify, if you have questions, concerns, doubts, or goals for anything related to gender, sex, and/or sexual identity- our services were made with you in mind!
Nope! There are specially trained folks at Counseling & Psychological Services who can also provide one-time consults and short-term therapy. For more information, visit the CAPS website.
Being "out" refers to being public about a queer identity or some other aspect of your gender and sexuality. Whether this applies to you or not, know that you don’t have to choose a label or identify a certain way in order to use our services.
Gender-Affirming Care at Vaden
Many folx choose to pursue hormones, otherwise known as Gender Affirming Hormone Therapy (GAHT), as a part of their gender journey. One does not have to identify along the gender binary (e.g. trans woman, trans man) in order to pursue this option. Learn more about GAHT at Vaden here
Many folx are interested in pursuing other types of gender affirming care like surgery, hair removal, etc. If you are interested in learning more about these services, need a letter of support, or need help getting a referral through insurance, you can book a Gender Affirming Care consultation with a Weiland provider. Here are the steps in how to do so:
- Go to VadenPatientPortal
- Under Medical Services select Transgender Health Care
- Select “Gender affirming hormones/other care (start/adjust/refill)” to initiate gender affirming hormone treatment (a “start” appt) should be 40 minutes and the others should be 20 min” Note: Regardless of insurance, these appointments are typically covered by your Health Fee.
Got Fees!?
Do you have out-of-pocket medical expenses related to mental health co-pays, gender-affirming medical costs, or supplies for gender-affirming care, that you need help covering? The QT Fund & Financial Aid Office (FAO) wants to guide you through this process! Does lack of access to your care put your enrollment at Stanford at Risk? The Financial Aid Office may be able to help.
Are you:
- An Undergrad?
- Already receiving need-based aid from the Financial Aid Office?
- Enrolled and incurred costs during enrollment?
- Able to upload documentation of medical/co-pay costs incurred over 150?
If you answered YES to all of these questions, fill out this one-page form where you can upload your documentation for review by the FAO! They will determine if the cost can be met with a scholarship. Learn more here
*Our partners at the FAO will ultimately decide if you qualify, but this is a great place to state.
