About Vaden Health Services

Vaden Health Services is the first stop for diagnosis and treatment of illness, injury and ongoing conditions, as well as for preventive counseling and education. Other Vaden services include counseling and wellness resources, pharmacy, physical therapy, insurance, travel clinic, the Confidential Support Team and the Office of Substance Use Programs Education & Resources (SUPER). Vaden also offers Cardinal Care, the university-sponsored student health insurance plan. The center was made possible by a gift from the Vaden family.

Medical Services

Medical Services is your first stop for the diagnosis and treatment of illness, injury, and ongoing conditions, as well as for preventive counseling and education. Our dedicated and professional clinicians provide a full range of care, from screening tests to medical emergencies.

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)

We are a diverse range of cross-disciplinary staff who are personally and ethically committed to providing care that is rooted in cultural humility and social-justice values.

Well-Being at Stanford

We are here to empower individuals and communities to flourish through education, connection and positive culture change.

 Confidential Support Team (CST)

Our Mission is to support connection, healing, and thriving among Stanford community members impacted by sexual, relationship, and gender-based violence through confidential, trauma-informed consultation, counseling, and outreach.

Pharmacy

The Walgreens at Vaden pharmacy specializes in students’ needs. The pharmacists work closely with the Vaden clinicians and deliver highly personalized service. 

Insurance & Referral Office

Stanford University requires that all registered students carry adequate health insurance. This requirement can be met either through Cardinal Care, the university sponsored health insurance plan, or through an alternative insurance plan that has comparable benefits.

Office of Substance Use Programs Education & Resources (SUPER)

Reduce high-risk alcohol and other drug usage and their related harms among Stanford students by utilizing health promotion principles through collaborative, cutting-edge, empirically-proven educational strategies and programs.

Our mission is to promote mental health and wellness across the spectrum of gender identities and sexual orientations through education, training and clinical services at Stanford and beyond.

Meet the Executive Director of Vaden Health Center & Associate Vice Provost for Student Affairs

James R. Jacobs, MD, PhD, became the executive director of Vaden Health Services and associate vice provost for Student Affairs in March 2016. Jim is also an associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.
