Home Care Advice for a Nosebleed

  • Avoid Aspirin or Ibuprofen
  • Apply pressure: pinch nose (soft part) for at least 5 minutes (by the clock) and tilt head forward, if bleeding continues, hold it for 10 minutes
  • Place a cold compress or an ice pack across the bridge of your nose
  • Place Vaseline or any antibiotic ointment (i.e. Neosporin) in nose 2 to 3 times per day, gently, to help moisturize/heal the inside of your nose
  • Avoid nose picking, blowing or sneezing
  • Increase fluid intake
  • Use vaporizer in bedroom at night
