First Aid Kit

You can treat minor illnesses and injuries on your own with a personal first aid kit. You can also use it to care for more serious problems (until you can get professional help). Here is a checklist of health-related items to help you prepare for your transition to campus.

  • Adhesive bandages (assorted sizes)
  • Adhesive tape (one-inch wide)
  • Antacid
  • Antibiotic ointment
  • Antihistamine (diphenhydramine hydrochloride — generic for Benadryl)
  • Antiseptic wipes
  • Bike helmet
  • Cough drops
  • Cold Pack (disposable)
  • Copy of your eyewear prescription
  • Cotton roll and balls
  • Cotton-tipped swabs
  • Decongestant (pseudoephedrine hydrochloride — generic for Sudafed)
  • Elastic bandage (three-inch wide)
  • Extra pair of eyeglasses and/or contact lenses
  • Flashlight and extra batteries
  • Gauze pads
  • Health Insurance card
  • Hydrocortisone cream
  • Pain-relief medication (aspirin, acetaminophen, ibuprofen)
  • Scissors
  • Surgical masks and gloves
  • Thermometer
  • Tissues
  • Waterless antibacterial hand gel
