Cardinal Care and Dependent Health Insurance for 2012-2013

Vaden Health Center has announced the Cardinal Care student health insurance rates for the 2012-13 academic year.

The cost of the annual plan will be $3,600, a 6.4% increase over the current year's rate of $3,384. Cardinal Care will continue to provide comprehensive coverage with enrollment on an annual basis. Plan benefits will be the same as the current year's design. Purchase of the plan (or waiver/exception in a student’s first registered quarter of the academic year) is a year-long commitment.

Student Dependent Health Insurance PlanThe Student Dependent Health Insurance Plan, available to dependents of students enrolled in Cardinal Care, will be offered in 2012-13, with benefits the same as the current year's design. Monthly premium costs are shown in the following table. These rates represent an 8.1% increase over the 2011-12 plan year rates. Plan enrollment is open to dependents of new students during a 60 day open-enrollment period that occurs only at the beginning of the student's academic career, or when a student dependent experiences a qualifying life event.

 

 

Health care costs in the covered populations coupled with overall medical inflation continue to be key factors in the rise in insurance premiums.

All students will be provided with more detailed information about student health insurance and corresponding rates for 2012-13 in the annual health mailing from Vaden Health Center as summer approaches.
